Ahmedabad This could well be the GenX car. With Gujarat fast shaping up as an auto-hub, here is a futuristic electric car to fit with today's "green" conscious youth. Without cutting on the fun element!

A third year student of transportation design at MIT Instutute of Desing, Pune, Abhishek Samuel, who hails from Ahmedabad, has come up with an innovative idea of 'repackaaged' electric vehicles (EVs)

Samuel has designed an electric car to suit t hanging needs and trends of GenX, especially young professionals and collegians. "EVs have hugh potential, especially in the backdrop of the global warming threat. Today, youngsters are conscious about envioronment and prefer to opt for green options, EV is an emerging, green trend and needs to be strengthened with better and user-friendly designs." says Samuel.

"I am to popularise EVs amoth youth as electric cars are economically advantageous and ecologically sound," adds Samuel. According to him the electric cars which are in circulation lack proper seating arrangment. The current arrangement is designed for a small family, not for a group of youngsters. Talking about his innovaitve designing layout, Samuel says "Driver sits in his original position but the two other passenger seats are higher and closer to each other. So, the car can accommodate three adult occupants, without compromising on comfort. This is not possible in current EVs."

"This unusal interior layout helps increase interaction among the occupants It increased the seating capacity of the vehicle despite maintain the same wheelbase length as the original." he adds.

"Europe, UK, France and US governments electric car owners are encouraged with concessions like - free parking facility, no road taxes and subsidy on charging electric cars. our government too should start promoting EVs with incentives," adds Samuel.
