Ahmedabad The cheapest car in the world is here and how. Nano cars stole into Gujarat from Pune in two huge container trucks in the dead of Friday night under heavy police bandobast, to ensure a mishap-free ride into Ahmedabad.
Barely are car containers given police protection, but this was Ratan Tata's prestigious Nano which is to be the star attraction at Vibrant Gujarat meet on January 12-13.
Sources told TOI that the two trucks carrying Nano cars reached Bhilad checkpost on Maharashtra-Gujarat border at 12.30 am on Friday. The police were told to provide protection.
Each district that the consignment passed — Valsad, Navsari, Bharuch, Vadodara, Anand and Ahmedabad — provided an escort vehicle with a couple of policemen to guard the automobile cargo, in their respective areas. In Ahmedabad, it was quietly stashed away in a godown on the outskirts of the city. |
