Gujarat is known all over India and the world as the state where the business people come from. Gujarat has always been a place that breeds entrepreneurs. From VERY wealthy land owners and descendants of Maharajas to vendors selling vegetables from carts on street corners. If there is a profit or a living to be made, Guajarati’s seem born to finding the opportunity.
They are hard-working, smart and focused individuals. That appeals to me a great deal.
I’m the adventurous type. I LOVE the idea of running a business on the opposite side of the world. I love the culture, the people, the food, the language, (I’m taking Gujarati lessons and have a verbal arsenal approaching some 200 words. Say Kam Cho –means how are you? When someone says it to you say – MAJAMA means I’m fine), and most of all I love the opportunity.
Have you heard of the Nano? It is the world’s first new car that sells for under $2500!!
It, along with several other factors, has made Ahmedabad and Gujarat just about the hottest investment on the planet. While the whole world is reeling under a global recession, Gujarat is booming!! Everywhere you look you see smart, hard-working, well educated people looking for opportunities and ideas that will allow them to use their English speaking education to change their lives, their country and the world for the better. You can see it and feel it in the air, everywhere you go in Gujarat!
The crime rate is low. There is modern infrastructure and a lot of English speaking people. But as in anyplace where there a LOT of people, you need to be a little careful or you may not have as good an experience as you should have.
There is really nothing to be afraid of anywhere in the city or state. I know because I will go anywhere, eat anything and with anybody. I’ve been to a lot of places! BUT be aware of global politics and your surroundings and use your head. Listen to your own vibes just as you would in New York or Oklahoma city and you may come to love Gujarat as much as I do.
It’s exciting to be here and if you get here, look me up! I’d love you to show you around my 2nd home.
